College of Dentistry – Al-Ayen University
The College of Dentistry at Al-Ayen University was established in 2017 and is located on an area of approximately 10,000 m² in the heart of Nasiriyah, the center of Dhi Qar Governorate. The college includes 10 lecture halls equipped with modern audiovisual systems and 12 educational and specialized laboratories furnished with the latest scientific and training equipment, enabling students to acquire the necessary skills in the field of dentistry.
The college adopts an annual academic system based on internationally recognized credit units for each subject. It comprises five academic stages through which students progress from studying basic medical sciences to preparing for dental practice, culminating in the study of specialized dental sciences. This progression enables students to treat patients through hands-on practice in all branches of dentistry at the college’s teaching hospital, which spans 3,000 m² across four floors. The hospital houses 206 modern dental chairs distributed across eight specialized clinics, including:
Additionally, the hospital includes examination rooms, operating rooms, and radiology rooms equipped with advanced digital imaging systems. The hospital receives patients from across the governorate, and students in the fourth and fifth stages provide treatment in all dental specialties under the supervision of dentists from various disciplines. The hospital also includes a dental laboratory equipped with the latest devices and materials required for practical work.

The teaching staff includes a distinguished group of specialists, both Iraqi and international, holding advanced degrees and academic titles.
The college has consistently kept pace with scientific advancements in dentistry, organizing three international scientific conferences as part of the university’s academic activities. These conferences have laid the foundation for annual scientific events, during which faculty members present their research, published in reputable scientific journals.
Since its founding, the college has placed great emphasis on academic excellence and the implementation of globally recognized standards in education quality. It was the first dental college in Iraq (after the College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad) to have its self-assessment report accepted and verified. This outstanding academic achievement culminated in the college receiving full programmatic accreditation for its Bachelor’s program from the Academic Accreditation Council for Iraqi Dental Colleges and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This represents a major scientific milestone affirming the college’s high educational standards and alignment with global benchmarks.
The college continues to advance its academic journey in accordance with quality education standards, aspiring to reach the highest levels in scientific, administrative, and organizational domains.

Mission:
Improving the level of dental services via preparing dentists capable to communicate positively with the community, in order to provide medical services based on the latest dental technique and spread awareness cultural of oral and dental health
